We proudly welcome new team member Leila Modirzadeh as BeOnBoard’s new Communications Assistant. Here, Leila tells us about herself and what ED&I means to her…

My name Leila Modirzadeh, a current third-year Social Policy undergrad at the University of Bristol.
‘How little has humanity achieved in our ‘modern’ world if injustice and inequality still stand before us?’ is a philosophy that has truly influenced my outlook on life. I believe our worth should be measured by the impact we make on the global community that surrounds us. As someone who’s got a multicultural background, diversity is quite literally a factor that sort of defines who I am and what I believe in. Living in both the Middle East and Europe honed my ability to familiarise myself with people from all walks of life and has enabled me to gain a deeper insight into how diversity is necessary in order to move forward and progress societally.
My ambition for diversity and this role is to connect with people and to promote an organisation which values our differences rather than impedes them. In terms of diversity and leadership, I find that an eagerness to understand how people’s cultures and social experiences may cause them to approach things differently will prove invaluable when making decisions or delivering projects.
