To increase much needed racial and gender representation in the Boardrooms and at Executive levels, together with Common Purpose we offered one aspiring leader a bursary opportunity to participate in the Senior Leaders programme…
We are thrilled to announce that aspiring leader Alison Scott has been selected for this amazing opportunity! Here’s what Alison had to say:
“As a Bristol housing manager of 28,000 council houses and trustee at Brigstowe – a local charity that assists people living with HIV and refugees – I truly appreciate why inclusion and diversity needs to be a definitive part of any organisation’s culture.
However, my passion is to see belonging and inclusion being genuinely embedded based on its real and true benefits, not just for ticking boxes. I am particularly interested in ensuring the talent pipeline supports this and see opportunities for furthering this in Common Purpose.
As a leader I don’t just model these values but hope through this programme to make an impact by influencing others to see the benefits of innovation, creativity and employee engagement – not to mention bottom lines – of a culture that accepts, celebrates and willingly promotes different voices.
My recent community engagement work tackling the pandemic and our projects at Brigstowe synergise with the aims of Common purpose, proving the ‘working better together’ ethos to counteract increasing global fragmentation.
As with Stepping Up, I hope BeOnBoard will continue to help me be a visible role model of diversity and inclusion in action at leadership level, but more importantly, take forward my passion for championing the value of a diverse and inclusive culture.”
