UNDERSTANDING FINANCIAL GOVERNANCE FOR NON-FINANCIAL PEOPLE

Join us for the second in our on-going series of free courses to help you launch your Board career.

In our recent survey we asked you what kind of training you wanted and needed to feel confident about taking on Board roles. Time and again, we saw that people wanted to learn more about Financial Governance. On 14 July we will be hosting:

Understanding Financial Governance for Non-Financial People

Our guest expert is Laura Barrow, Chartered Accountant and Finance Director at Bristol & Bath Regional Capital (BBRC) – a social enterprise which uses investment to target the causes and effects of inequality.

Laura is accountable for the financial and operational leadership of BBRC and has spent many years working with Boards in a finance capacity, both within organisations ranging from tech start-ups to Nationwide Building Society, and as an external auditor. She is also a Trustee of Bristol Hospitality Network, which works alongside destitute asylum seekers, and is responsible for the charity’s financial governance.

This course will help you:

  • Understand your legal responsibility and give you an overview of financial governance
  • Increase your confidence in talking about financial governance
  • Look at examples of Board papers/balance sheets
  • Look at reports from an audit committee that you are expected to understand
  • Learn to ask the right questions

We strive to offer free training to all of our candidates, but in these difficult times are asking you to consider making a donation upon booking. Thank you for your continued support.
