The Award Winning BeOnBoard

We are super-proud to share that BeOnBoard recently won the Stepping Up Award for its ‘Unique Contribution to Diversity’. The Stepping Up Programme aims to unlock potential and develop talent while ensuring a fair representation of BAME, disabled people and women in positions of leadership.

About the Stepping Up Award our founder and CEO Kalpna Woolf said:

“Firstly, thank you to Stepping Up, it’s an honour to be recognised by our peers for whom I have much respect. Secondly thank you to my amazing team who keep on disrupting for positive change. And I also want to thank allies like our Bristol Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Business West, NatWest, Black Southwest Network and many others for their ongoing support.”

Kalpna continued by saying, “Back in 2017, BeOnBoard was founded to disrupt the lack of representation in the city’s boardrooms. I was confident that the talent pipeline was rich and untapped. Fast forward to 2021 and to date we have supported hundreds of leaders of colour to step up and confidently take their place in the boardrooms to ensure greater economic success for our organisations, inclusive governance and equitable outcomes for all.”

Kalpna also went on to give credit to the boldness of the 65+ organisations that BeOnBoard has supported over the last few years.

“Embracing change is not easy but we know that it enhances mission impact, relevance, and revenue whilst reducing risks to reputation. Diversity is not just a nice thing to have, it is a core business imperative. So, with Bristol being a diverse city with over 91 languages and communities, we have a talent-pool ready to step onto boards. It goes without saying that businesses face unprecedented and multiple complex challenges. This is set to continue. Now more than ever, we need to use all our collective strengths, diverse perspectives, skills, experiences and voices in the boardroom to overcome these, to build a strong economy and to build a better city region.

As we approach 2022, whether your organisation is serious about embracing ED&I or you’re a candidate looking to step up to the Boardroom, BeOnBoard are here to help. Contact us today so that we can help navigate you on your adventures in inclusive leadership.”

The BeOnBoard team will receive their first award on 7th December from the Deputy Mayor Asher Craig and new Chair of Business West, Jaya Chakrabarti MBE at the next Bristol West of England Initiative Members Meeting.
